Following the port pick up by our local tour guide and driver, start the tour with a visit to the Peace Memorial Park built to commemorate the atomic bombing of Nagasaki which devastated a fairly large part of the city and killed over 10 thousand people. The 10-meter-high Peace Statue at the northern edge and numerous memorials are striking points of the park.
Regarded as a reminder to the second World War, the Mayor of Nagasaki annually deliver a speech in the park to call for world peace. Go past the park, visit the Atomic Bomb Museum where events leading to the brutal bombing were chronologically recorded.
Savor the tasty Japanese lunch and then head for Dejima Island to visit Dejima Museum. A trip to this man-made island will give visitors a deep look at the relationship between Nagasaki city and the outside world. Dejima Museum is home to an incredible collection of history that helps you imagine the lifestyle on Dejima Island in the part and the unique trading connections of global history.
Don’t forget to visit the lovely Glover Garden offering beautiful sceneries, stop by Glover Mansion – the oldest Western-style building in Japan and a nearby gallery of a Meiji-Era building. Trip ends at a good time and you will be transferred back to the cruise port.
