Pick up from port

You’ll begin with pickup at the cruise terminal in Shimizu. A comfortable coach and an English-speaking licensed guide will greet you and begin the scenic drive into the Shizuoka region. As you depart the port area, your guide will share insights about local geography and culture, setting the tone for the excursion.

Visit Kunōzan Tōshō-gū Shrine

Your first major stop is the hill-top shrine of Kunōzan Tōshō-gū, dedicated to the famed leader Tokugawa Ieyasu who helped unite Japan after centuries of civil strife. You’ll ascend via stone steps or via alternate paths through the forested hillside, bringing you into a striking complex of bright red structures accented with gold and vivid carvings.

Nihondaira Ropeway & View Mount Fuji

Next you’ll travel to the Nihondaira area where you’ll board the Nihondaira Ropeway for a skyward ascent. From the ropeway cabin, you will gaze across scenic ridgelines and, if the weather cooperates, gaze upon the iconic silhouette of Mount Fuji rising high above the landscape.

Stroll Miho-no-Matsubara

Conclude your sightseeing with a visit to the tranquil seashore of Miho-no-Matsubara, famed for its long row of black pine trees and its picturesque view of Mount Fuji framed over the bay. Unlike many sandy beaches, Miho’s shore is comprised of small stones and darker volcanic-material pebbles, lending a different texture underfoot.

Legend has it that the Hagoromo-no-Matsu pine tree was the site where a fisherman found the robe of a celestial maiden, adding a layer of mythic charm to the natural setting.
